prowess in the movies she has featured in. In this interview with JOAN
OMIONAWELE, the actress speaks about her lifestyle, acting career and
other issues.Excerpts:
What projects have you had up your sleeves lately?
I released a movie last year, and I’m on the set of another movie now. I hope to have a productive year.
What will you describe as your most challenging moment on stage?
Every challenge is different, every experience is different, so I really don’t know what I will be doing that will make me go overboard. I can cry, sing and fit into any role very well.
Most Nollywood actresses are competitive in nature, do you consider yourself competitive?
I’m not a fake person, so I don’t think I am, though this job is really competitive in nature. So, once in a while, you might want to prove a point to someone that you can do something great for yourself as well.
The people who compete know themselves; they buy
Can you act a movie with an actor who has body odour?
Well, I don’t have a choice.
What if you have to be romantic with him?
I don’t know, I will just do it and get it over with.
What is your definition of marriage?
It should be a union of two people who trust and love each other.
So, when are the bells ringing for you?
I don’t know. But when it rings, I will surely let you know.
Do you sometimes wish you do some things better?
Though I don’t like to live on regrets, yet I wish I was more outgoing, People complain that I am too quiet and I keep to myself, but I tell them that only focused people keep quiet.
Do you smoke and drink?
No I don’t smoke, but I take red wine sometimes.
What are the moral restrictions that you grew up with?My mum was a Christian and it helped my growing up a lot. I realised I could not do so many things without God. The things I learnt from her were not things she taught me, but things I saw her do. I never agreed with her strictness, but I later realised that it was the best way. I grew up understanding that you need to give in order to get. I grew up understanding that you need to pay your tithe so that God will multiply your income.
Was paying your tithe a conscious decision or something you grew up with?
It was basically my upbringing.
What’s your kind of style?
I don’t feel comfortable wearing certain things like short skirts or trousers; I would rather just wear a gown. I can’t show my boobs in church, I can in a movie, but I don’t like clothes that I have to go through any form of stress to put on. I prefer to put on a pair of jeans trousers or a short or long dress.
Who are your role models in Nollywood?
Mercy Johnson and Uche Jombo
What can’t you do for Nollywood?
I cannot go nude for Nollywood.
But you can go nude for Hollywood?
I am not in Hollywood yet, let me get there first and you would know.
You grew up in the slum, how did it help you as your grew older?
Growing up in the ghetto helps me take certain decisions. I saw many girls taking cocaine, crack and all sorts back then, so I know what kind of life it was, thus I can’t go back there. We have to make the mistake to learn a lesson.
What would you like to change about yourself?
Nothing really, because I’m much focused. But I trust too easily and I easily get fooled.
Can you tattoo your lover’s name on your back?
No.
things and post them on Instagram, buy new cars every now and then and so on.
